Leaders solve problems. If they don't, whoever solves them becomes the leader. Leadership and Problem-Solving are interchangeable. Once you accept this premise, you are on your way to becoming a collaborative leader.
Where groups solve problems together, the leader is anyone who moves from problem toward solution at any given moment. The titled leader is better described as a facilitator.
With the Industrial model, the leader was a problem-solver. Today, no one has enough information to go it alone. Leaders facilitate. They are now responsible for seeing that problems get resolved. "To surrender power is to gain power."
